The context in which we work as therapists places us in relationships where communication is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. The needs of our clients mixed with the concerns of adhering to the LPC Code of Ethics when deciding rather to use touch can impose limitations to the therapeutic relationship. The Ethics Of Touch How To Use TouchPerhaps it is not a question of rather to use touch but of when and how to use touch. The Ethics Of Touch Professional That IntendsIt is essential that any licensed mental health professional that intends to use touch first have a basic understanding of their underlying motivations in using touch with each specific client and in each particular situation. This workshop will highlight the ethical considerations, prohibitions, and attitudes about touch within the psychotherapeutic field. In addition, we will discuss client and therapists perception of touch, types of touch, religious and cultural considerations, the effects of touch, and research implications around the use of touch in psychotherapy. This workshop is not intended to provide training on the use of touch in psychotherapy; however, we will explore the ethical implications for licensed mental health professionals who choose to integrate touch into their practice. We will be seated on the floor with yoga mats, cushions, and pillows, so please dress in comfortable clothes that will allow you to move your body. You can email me at moniquerodriguezphdgmail.com or call at 512-902-4357 with any questions. The Ethics Of Touch Free To TakeFeel free to take a look at my bio to learn more about me and my work. This workshop is also open to coaches, trainers, or anyone in the field of helping professionals. Through somatic psychotherapy, Monique helped me be aware of my body and what was going on when I was triggered by uncomfortable emotions. She helped me to go back to the source of the body feeling and then work through it. I look at the person I am today, as compared with where I was 2 years ago, and I am so much healthier, happier, calmer, and at peace. Id highly recommend Monique to anyone looking for personal help or just looking for someone to talk to. Ive very much enjoyed my time with Monique and look forward to continuing work with her in the future. In that safety, she helped me open up things that I had kept hidden my whole life.
